While many nation commemorate independence as a political freedom from colonial rule - the true essence of independence is often questioned by endless social issues. A country can never be truly free if it's people are chained by poverty,fear, inequality and injustice.

Independence is not merely about hosting flags and singing anthems;it is about creating a society where every individual can live with dignity and security. 

Real independence refers to have the freedom to choose,to grow and to build a future and eventually give back to society. Education empowers children to become truly independent adult - with careers, rights and voice. But in our country we see education as a birth right on one hand and child labour on the other. We see a false sense of independence through child labour. People  sit together at a tea stall talking about freedom, right,dignity and development and call for the child to fill their cup for the second time.

True independence is not just a mindset - it requires access to resources. And here stands structural inequality as a barrier to true independence. Not everyone starts from the same place. Race, gender, class,creed all these limit access to education, healthcare and economic prosperity. Marginalized communities often face systematic barriers that make independence a luxury not a right.

When they are forced to fight for basic survival the notion of independence seem an illusion and not ideal. A large segments of the population who are educated or skilled youth but unemployed leads to social unrest. That again gives birth to rise in crime, political instability and frustration as the fruits of independence. Inequality, corruption and inappropriate selection process in educational sectors brings students in despire and teachers to the street for protest.

Political independence may give a country sovereignty but true freedom lies in the safety and dignity of it's people - especially it's women. In society ,women are still denied the basic right to feel safe in public and private space. This raises a critical question : Can we really call ourselves free if our mother,sisters, and daughters live in fear ? Woman safety is not a privilege, it is a basic human right . Cases of woman burning themselves, doing suicide,rape and domestic violence are common in our country in the present scenario. A nation that values women's safety creates stronger families healthier communities and a more just society.

“When women are safe, nation are strong”.

With all these alarming issues, arise the question of true independence. We find this independence at what cost? Can we call this truly freedom or facade?

Independence as we come to define it,is a noble aspiration but also a partial truth. The myth lies not in the desire to be free , but in the denial of the connection that make the freedom possible. Perhaps the time has come to replace the myth of independence with a deeper ideal of mutual responsibility and shared strength.
